Kenya Day 3

Swahili and Movie Day

Another friend today! Together they read 
The introduction was full of so much information. There are so many African languages, but Swahili is common in much of East Africa. We focused on the numbers to go along with the book. After the book, they watched Work the World Swahili Lesson: Numbers to make sure they were pronouncing them correctly. They were pretty proud of themselves for getting most of them correct (the book had pronunciation guides). Then they worked on their cursive with a worksheet I made
They did giggle a bit at tatu (three) because it's pronounced ta too. I don't know why this was so funny to them, but it was. 
And then we watched The Lion King. The girls worked on their movie madness worksheets and thought it was fun to learn the meanings of the characters names. After the movie they wanted to watch some of the bonus features about Africa. 

After her friend left, Melodie did this worksheet from Disney Family
